“My dream is to achieve and inspire Swiss people with my self-written rap lyrics on Pashto.” Faisal, 19 years old.

During his spare time he is busy practicing his German, writing rap texts in his mother tongue and cooking. His favourite dish is Qabili Palau, an Afghan dish consisting of rice, potatoes, meat and many oriental spices. In Switzerland he learned how to bake pizzas and prepare Rösti. Both were previously unknown to him. However, starting a cooking apprenticeship would be nothing for the friendly young man. He would love to start an apprenticeship as a painter. But he still had to work hard on his German so that he could go to vocational school. A Swiss family finances his German lessons. Faisal appreciates this very much and is infinitely grateful for this nice gesture!

The mountains and the landscape in Switzerland remind him of his homeland. Faisal loves to undertake small hikes in the Swiss mountains. He would be happy if he could discover more parts of Switzerland! He would also like to learn how to ski.

Rap music gives the young Afghan his strength. He hears German, English and Pakistani rap. His role models include Swiss rappers Mimiks and Didi. Faisal processes much of what he has experienced in his lyrics. He hopes that he can convey a message with his songs on Pashto.
